The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Refresher Training course is a training program designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide immediate assistance and basic first aid in the workplace.  This course covers a range of topics related to emergency first aid, including:

1. Roles and responsibilities:  Understanding the role of a first aider, legal obligations, and the importance of maintaining first aid records.
2. Assessing an incident:  How to recognise and assess an emergency situation, ensuring personal safety, and identifying potential hazards in the workplace.
3. Prioritising care:  Learn how to prioritise and provide appropriate first aid to casualties based on the severity of their condition.
4. CPR and AED:  Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques for providing chest compressions and rescue breaths to an unresponsive casualty.  Additionally, training on how to use automated external defibrillators (AEDs) may be included.
5. Airway and breathing:  Techniques for opening and maintaining the casualty’s airway, including the recovery position for unconscious casualties.
6. Circulation and bleeding:  Managing severe bleeding, applying direct pressure, and using appropriate dressings and bandages.
7. Shock: Recognising the signs and symptoms of shock and providing immediate care to minimize its effects.
8. Minor injuries:  Treating minor injuries such as cuts, burns, sprains, and strains, including proper cleaning, dressing, and immobilisation techniques.
9. Medical conditions:  Basic understanding of common medical conditions that may require immediate first aid, such as seizures.
10. Record keeping:  The importance of accurate record keeping and documentation of incidents, actions taken, and any witnesses.

The aims / learner outcomes of the online Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Refresher Training course:
